The power of such a beautiful thing

Who thought it could deliver a sting?

The strength of something with such charm

Who Thought it would do such harm?

When first developed many years ago

Who thought it could promote such ego?

Who thought it would destroy so many lives?

Like the piercing thrust of a thousand knives.

Most of it is exaggerated lies

About how to compromise.

It justifies things that are wrong

And entangles the mind, soon gone.

This is the power music takes

When harm it is used to make.

Music does not have to be this way,

But it is our choice every day.

All Around you is the sound of music,

 is all that you do makes the music of today

The sound of the dishes, the children laughing

 The keys on the typewriter, the chatter on the phone.

 All Around you is the sound of music

Ode to Music

With your melody of sounds and beats

You sweep me off into the night

You are a beautiful white stallion, racing to his heart’s content.

The stallion starts at a walk,

Bringing slow grace and magic to my ears.

He speeds up to a trot,

And the tempo increases.

I peer around the array of music spread before me.

The brilliant white stallion quickens his pace

And brings colossal sounds and vibrations to my ears.

He is now in full gallop

And the world seems to end –

Until he suddenly stops, without throwing me off,

And I gracefully dismount.

The feeling of music

It comes from deep

Deep within my heart

It’s difficult to try to be

On the right note

At that moment

But I know it will 

come with much practice

And patience

The feeling of music 

Is a talent that can 

Never be undone.

Language of the soul, as it is called

Enjoyed by people both young and old

Nice sounds put together

To please the listener

It is pleasant to the ears

Can keep away your worries and fears

Some use it for their entertainment

To give them enjoyment

Whatever description you give

Music is one thing we need in order to live

you just got to dance
